Sunshine Holets: The background check will become a part of your permanent employee file when hired. You are able to request a copy as an employee. If you are not hired, most laws require that the employer provide a copy of the results and give you some time to question the results if there is an error. If they used an outside screening firm (and most do), you are usually entitled to their report also to see what caused the employer not to hire you.Criminal background checks are usually completed BEFORE an individual is hired or promoted into a new position that has been designated as security sensitive. Typically, the criminal background check is requested at the point where a finalist for a position is identified. No offer of employment is usually made until the results of the background check are completed and reviewed by the hiring official. Many companies make a preemployment background check mandatory in order to reduce the consequences associated with negligent ! hiring. So, if you recently applied and have received a background check result, it should tell you the next steps. If you were not hired, there will almost always be something in that package that tells you what to do or where to ask a question.I am not sure if I answered your question, but feel free to ask any other questions that I may have missed. Good Luck!...Show more
