Does a long work commute damage car?

Aldo Decurtis: if you're on the highway, it does very little wear to your car compared to city driving. on the highway, your engine is operating at a lower RPM for a consistent time. this puts less stress on the engine compared to revving in regular traffic. also, your transmission is doing a lot less work considering you're staying in one gear throughout most of the trip.

Ron Keliipio: i have met similar problem before

Daren Ventrice: Other than running up the miles really fast and burning about 4 gallons of gas a day, it is not that harmful. You just wear it out sooner.

Giovanni Malool: other than the miles runnin up faster a longer commute is not going to hurt your car. Its better to fully warm the car up all the way anyway instead of little short trips. So enjoy your new job, be glad you found one (congragulations, looking is more work than working) and now that you have a bunch of resumes out there you can still keep an eye out for something that m! ay pay better and be closer to home as well. So hang in there, do what you need to do, and if the chance comes up for a more positive change, closer to home, you can evaluate what works better for you.I have done commutes, back a thousand years ago on a motorcycle, and having some time to yourself in the morning is not always a bad thing....Show more

Charlotte Bryar: my car is also fully stock and never been repaired. only maintained, except for the spark plugs.
