insurance company pay for rental car while mine is being repaired?

Randa Hessell: They are trying to wait you out so they won't be liable for the rental car, hoping your car is fixed before you rent one. Call a rental company and ask how to go about it, have the information handy and give it to them and see what they say to you, if you need wheels, go get them, they said they would pay for one, so follow thru with what you plan to do, if they don't pay for one, sue them in court. You might want to find out how they are about making payments for repairs, I'm having to sue one down here because they drag thier feet in making payments on claims, it's been over 18 months so far. Took two months to get paid for damages to my truck after a policyholder rear ended me in September of '06 and that was after they 'totaled' my truck since repairs were higher than the vaule of my truck, blue book price. Stick to your guns and make them pay for your transportation while your car is in the shop....Show more

Neely Youngblut: I got my driving perm! it May 2 2012. In Illinios we are required to have our permit for 9 months before getting our lisnces. The thing that I do not understand is if I got my permit May 2 and since May has 31 days and June has only 30 days how do I calculate or figure out how long I have had my permit for. If you could help me find the exact of amount of months and days that I have had it for that would be great. THANK YOU!

Elbert Donatelli: Call again and leave another message for the claim rep today. Leave him/her a message stating that you need a phone call back today and if you don't hear from someone you will contact a supervisor first thing tomorrow morning. If you don't get another call back within a day... call the claims phone number (don't enter an extension but wait for a general claims person to answer- not your specified adjuster) for the insurance company and ask to speak to a supervisor. Explain to the supervisor that you need a rental car and the adjuster is not returnin! g your phone call. Ask the supervisor your options with that ! insurance company because all companies are different. I wouldn't just call to get a rental car because you are not going through your insurance company... and you are unfamiliar with the other insurance company's policies. Worst case scenario if you would call your own rental company... the claims department could deny the rental claim... and you would have to pay. Contact the claims department and demand that someone return your call. If that doesn't work ask to talk to a supervisor!!!...Show more

Lauri Ohl: my mom wants to get insurance on her used vehicle, she hasn't got a car since like about 2004 and this car she is about to pick up tomororrow needs insurance on. But before we go to agencies tomororow to find out, what is the typical down payment she is going to get asked?? she's 47 and has been driving since 92' and has never had any points or tickets. How much should she atleast have in her bank account before she heads over to the agency???

Carmelina Enoch: You need to get your own rental car but it should be billed to his insurance company. If the specific handler won't call you back I'd call his insurance provider and ask to speak with someone else in reference to your issue and pending claims. You can also call your insurance agent for advice and help to make sure you get what's due you.

Jinny Dronen: I've been surfing the web more than three hours today searching for answer to the same question, but I haven't found a more interesting discussion like this. It is pretty worth enough for me.

Sonya Volcko: If you are using a reputable body shop they will work with insurance company handling the claim and the rental car will be waiting for you at the repair shop. All of the paperwork with the Insurance company is handled by the repair shop.Ask the body shop how to get the rental. BTW, there is a cap on how much they will pay. You can't go out and rent a Mustang ! GT convertible and expect them to pay for it. You'll get a per day dollar value that you will have to stay under or you will be responsible for the overage....Show more

Filiberto Amauty: Good question!Call your insurance company about this. See if they can help you sort it out. Then call the rental agency and see what they usually do. Depending on the other driver's insurance company, they may have the rental billed directly to them or want you to pay it up front and be reimbursed. Since you weren't at fault, you should be the least inconvenienced, but that's not always the case.Hope this helped....Show more

Sharri Scalley: Depends on how she sets it up, various ways. She can pay the whole lump some, or maybe have to pay the first and last month's premium, or maybe just the first month's premium. Does she not have a credit card? I would say, to be on the safe side, to bring about $300 cash if not. Probably way too much, but you never know. You can call around and get a quote in the morning. Then you can ask them how they handle payment, so you can be prepared....Show more

Buster Buchko: You NEED to find your DL or go to your local TX DPS Drivers LIcense site and get a replacement. Then, take the receipt of getting your car ins! pected to the local municipal court adn they SHOULD dismiss the ticket. Some jurisdictions might charge you $10.00 for the dismissal fee.Good luck, drive RESPONSIBLY and I hope this helps!...Show more

Felicitas Phildor: Call back and get someone on the line -- any adjuster can approve rental and it is a much easier situation if the insurance company reserves the rental and direct-bills the cost.
