Clement Viscarro: My dad was in the C.C.C. in Nebraska. The money he made he sent most of it home to my grandparents. Was in for about 2 years then went to Colorado and worked the Big Thomson project.

Oscar Wieland: The Civilian Conservation Corps was one of the first New Deal programmes introduced by FDR. It primarily engaged unemployed single men in areas of forestry conservation and preservation. Those employed received $30/mo plus expenses. They worked on such projects as planting trees, building flood barriers, fighting forest fires and maintaining wilderness roads and trails. Approximately 3 million people were employed under this programme.
