Peggy Sandefer: Perhaps arranged marriages are more successful (assuming that's true) because neither party goes into the relationship with unrealistic preconceived ideas about marriage itself or the person they are marrying. Only guessing though since I'm not in an arranged marriage.

Sometimes arranged marriage, they have cultural pressures to stay together regardless of whether one is happy or not. Some children believe only their parents know who they will really be compatible with, and it works out that way.

With that information, they make an educated decision about who will be the best match. Marriage based on love can last, but many times, people don't look at the big picture of what may be important to them later on when thier spouses get older. I wish my parents had arranged my marriage.
