Adan Alipio: Center- more kids, more activities, more colds, and more missed work days.Home- fewer colds, closer monitoring, less exposure to other kids (can be a good thing since kids pick up bad habits young)
Georgia Dees: I think both have their pros and cons.At a center, I am sure they have an established setting that is proven to work. Afterall, that is what they do. The teachers and teachers assistants may be more qualified to detect issues with a child, be able to assist a child better one on one if they need help in a certain area (as long as the student to teacher ratio isn't too high). At a home preschool, they are probably on their own schedule. You would need to find out if their cirriculm matches a center preschool and what their teacher to student ratio is. If the cirriculm isn't as hard and the student to teacher ratio isn't as good as the center then you won't be benefiting very much in my mind.Overall I think either can be good with the proper kn! owledge. I don't know the exact standards and I am sure they vary, but I would say a child at 3 years old she be able to count to 20, say the entire ABC's, be able to pick out different colors, be able to pick out different letters, and get a start on writing his/her name, and start to have good socialization skills in a multi-child setting....Show more
