Do vegetarians eat eggs, yogurt, and milk?

Marty Tichnell: I agree that there are way too many names for different dietary lifestyles, it seems like people like to classify things way too much.A vegetarian simply is a person that does not eat any product, or product made from something derived from the death of an animal. Their diet includes both dairy, eggs, and honey as these are natural products produced by animals and is not the result of the death of an animal. All of the vegetarians I know eat both eggs and dairy as a part of their daily diet and they simply classify themselves as a vegetarian. One heads up, hard cheeses such as parmesan use rennet which is often animal based. As such many vegetarians avoid these types but not all. Semi-soft and soft cheeses rarely have rennet in them and, when they do, it is generally a vegetarian friendly form of rennet made from plants. True animal rennet is in short supply and expensive so only used in making parmesan and some other similarly hard cheeses....Show mor! e

Joesph Smithmyer: They don't eat meat, but vegetarians can eat eggs, dairy and honey

Len Bormes: Yes and we do. In processed food plants, government regulations allow a certain percentage of the foods to have bug parts in the foods. It's a tiny amount but it is allowable. BTW did you know that most red food dye is made from dactylopius coccus beetles. If you don't want to eat insects, buy kosher products. And the worm in Mescal is prize part of the drink.

Elinore Schlinker: pretty much anything that you can store in a small container... like things aforementioned... and everything gets tiring after a while. if you have the time, make sandwiches :) like avocado sandwiches... grilled vegetable sandwiches... make a garden burger... bagels with cream cheese or soy cream cheese... one of my favorite snacks is baby carrots and hummus... pair it up with a soup or salad. you need something more to eat besides chips or a handful of dried fruit. think savory ! and filling :D...Show more

Maria Bengston: There are a l! ot of teens that switch to vegetarianism and subsist on side dishes - which is definitely not good for them. So first you need to do research on it - print off recipes, nutrition substitution information and other materials. Or go to your library and get out some books. Make sure that you know how to get all the nutrients you need and that you actually get them. Talk it over with your family so they can hold you accountable. Offer to cook some vegetarian meals so they can see how flavorful and nutritious they are.One of the important things I've learned is to listen to my body. When you are craving something, specifically something like meat or vegetables, it means you are lacking in those nutrients. Don't feel guilty if you need to eat a small piece of chicken once in a blue moon to get your nutrition levels up.Good luck!...Show more

Particia Thorton: You need to explain to your mom why you would like to be vegetarian. If your reasons are healthy, than she wi! ll probably support you. You will also need to pitch in and help more with preparations as you would not want to make more work for your mom. Go to the library and check out some vegetarian/vegan cookbooks and try out some new recipes.

Elva Batie: You can prepare your own meals, just eat the sides of veggies and bread that your parents serve, start a vegetable garden and grow your own. I was a vegetarian when I was 15 and my family wasn't. It could be annoying at times, but I managed. You have to take a lot of responsibility for yourself though, and can't just rely on your parents to prepare everything for you....Show more

Shaquita Wernicki: talk to your parents or who ever does the shopping, tell them that you want to become a veg, let them know why, and see if they'd be willing to buy other things that you can eat while being a vegetarian.

Filiberto Ranalli: Whole wheat tortillas spread with refried beans and cheese, warmed in a microwave at school.Hum! mus with whole wheat pita bread or rosemary and olive oil Triscuits -mm! mmm! You can buy hummus in any grocery store but it's super easy and cheap to make at home.Peanut butter sandwich on whole wheat bread.Potato soup and buttered cornbreadLots of fruits and vegetables!! Cucumber and carrot sticks with ranch dip, rye bread with spinach dip, celery with peanut butter and raisins, etcSalads! Add chickpeas, a little shredded cheese, and plenty of vegetables.Taco salad made with vegetarian chili, lettuce, tomato, cheese and black olives, with tortilla chips to dip it up with. Rice, black beans (canned) and vegetables of your choice cooked in V8 juice and vegetable broth-mmmm again! And don't forget yogurt and good old cottage cheese!Check out eatingwell.com. goveg.com, and Vegetarian Times for lots more ideas. Best of luck!!...Show more

Natalya Sydney: OH YEA. I DIDN'T MEAN TO ASK THIS HERE, I JUST WENT WITH WHATEVER CATEGORY WAS SUGGESTED.

Alisia Sutphen: Nuts, like almonds or walnuts or pecans.Seeds like sunflower seeds. None of the a! bove fried-raw or dry roasted. Fruit, fresh and raw.Raw vegetables. Don't eat greasy fired foods. They will catch up with you....Show more

Maryland Gareau: Try sandwiches and cereal bars [vegetarian]My mom bakes me vegetarian chocolate chip cookies which takes about 10 minutes.I also take yogurt and dried fruits like raisins and dried apricots. If you want something sweet try snacking on chocolates cos they make you feel fullFor savoury foods try potatoe curry puffs or spicy biscuits. If you eat eggs you can choose from a variety of buns, biscuits, pies, cakes and breads. The best substitute for chips is biscuits and of course my mom's special chocolate chip cookies.Good Luck...Show more

Kassie Kay: YOU CAN'T EAT HUMANS!!!!At least not American humans... I prefer Asian Humans, they are the best tasting! They take good care of themselves and are healthier, so they taste better!!!! ^_^

Voncile Slaubaugh: You DO know that Y!A does not really review your questio! n and suggest a category based on where it would fit best, right? The en! gine just saw the words 'insect' and 'eat', looked where those words are most commonly used (the question "can vegetarians eat insects?" is pretty common) and put that category at the top of the suggestions. It's a gimmick to assist you in choosing a category, not meant to be mindlessly followed.Anyway, to switch to R&S mode:The bible first says what you quote, that everything that moves is fair game. But then in Leviticus it basically says "well, we didn't actually mean ANYTHING that moves" and comes up with a list of 'unclean' food.Anything that crawls on it's belly is regarded unclean. (Leviticus 11:42) That includes certain insects, for instance centipedes.Winged insects that have jointed legs to hop on the ground are regarded clean to eat, most specfically "any kind of locust, katydid, cricket or grasshopper". (Leviticus 11:21-22)So yes, if you want to follow biblical rules, you can eat insects, just not all of them....Show more

Foster Koopmann: In the US and the! UK, the word "vegetarian" refers to somebody who just avoids eating meat. Therefore, yuh, vegetarians eat eggs, yogurt and milk. In some other English speaking nations (like india) the word vegetarian sometimes refers to people who eat no animal products at all (in the US/UK, we call that vegan)

Chanda Wittwer: If you like the idea of chips, you can get various veggie chips at the health food store and at some local grocers. There are also dried apple chips and dried banana chips. And, there are a numerous amount of fresh veggies that pack well: carrots, celery, sliced cucumbers, sliced zucchini, and snap beans to name a few. Make sure you get protein in the form of yogurt, cheeses, peanut butter, eggs (hard boiled travel well in lunches).

Karl Samiec: There are no rules, you can define your vegetarianism anyway you wish.

Cyndy Grimes: That's up to you. It's not bad but, it's probably not great. I wouldn't eat them, just to be safe.

Michel Mccau! lley: ive been eating chips.& what can i substitue for chips?Something ! I can bring to school :D

Ardath Templer: Not eggs, but yoghurt and milk

Anton Waln: Im a vegetarian too =D I like to take corn thins instead of chips, much healthier option. You can put something on them if you like to like penut butter. Other than that i take nuts, dried frut and carrot and celery with avocardo dip. Hope it helps

Elvin Mannheimer: No offence, but all those chips are clogging up your brain.Food, buddy, FOOD. Real food.Get some bloody containers, fill them up with some food, and take them to school. Soups, sandwiches, rice, pasta... what can you not take to school that you can't eat anywhere else?

Rona Espalin: Try pretzels, mixed nuts, yogurt, pita bread with hummus, crackers with cheese, trail mix, drycereal, olives, salad Vegetables(carrots,celery..) and ranch is good to bring to school. If you're going to eat chips then try sunchips, they are healthier. Rice cakes are good and come in many flavors. I like to eat two with peanut butter b! etween them.

Paul Maymi: Eggs, yoghurt, milk and other nonmeat animal products are consumed by vegetarians. A vegetarian is someone who simply does not eat meat, or slaughter byproducts such as gelatin and rennet. One of the only things you'll have to watch out for is whether or not cheese is vegetarian; some cheeses contain rennet, which is used as a coagulant. Parmesan always contains it, but most cheese nowadays is okay for vegetarians and is made with microbial or vegetable based rennet. When you call yourself a vegetarian, most people would recognise that as someone who does not eat meat but will eat animal products like the ones you mentioned. So my advice would be to just refer to yourself as a vegetarian....Show more

Vita Moodie: Im 17 and ive been vegetarian for a long time, all i did was tell my step mum i didnt want to eat any meat, just tell whoever cooks your meals that you want to become one and why, its hard it first but soon the temptation fades:P! , remember that if your serious you'll have to look for the 'suitable f! or veges' sign on everything, as nearly everything contains gelatine.

Hye Caulley: Yes,eat all you want.

Emile Midgley: You can call yourself "vegetarian" and most people will understand that to mean that you can eat eggs, yoghurt and milk. You don't have to get complex with your explanations or naming, unless someone at a restaurant or somewhere asks you specifically, "do you eat eggs?" or whatever. The problem may be when people start trying to offer you chicken or fish, thinking those are vegetarian! There are a lot of misconceptions around about what vegetarian means. You just have to be careful that you are understood when you go out - but you won't generally need to say the 'ovo-lacto-' bit....Show more

Oswaldo Rayburn: yes some vegetarians eat eggs - mainly limit their avoidance of animal products to the meat or anything that requires the animal to be killed to make it. You do not have to go into extreme detail to people, just call yourself a veg! etarian and be done with it. not that many people are going to care about the details, and for those few you can explain if they ask.

Stormy Beliard: its a crazy world you can eat humans too if you want

Gordon Showes: Most vegetarians are lacto-ovo vegetarians, so you don't usually need to specify that.

Nelly Kikuchi: Eat everything else, just not the meat. There are lots of vegetarian substitutes out there, ask you mom to buy them for you. There are vegetarian chicken nuggets and burgers. I buy them for my daughter and she loves them. Make sure you get enough protein and iron! Peanut butter is a great source of protein, as is milk.

Donnell Mollo: Genesis 9:3, "Everything that lives and moves about will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything."Just curious. Because some people do eat them in other countries.

Robin Marchione: At age 13 you really are not developed enough intellectually or emotionally! to make such a decision, which is why you have parents. Maybe you sho! uld ask them what they think, the decision is ultimately theirs. Also consider the fact that vegetarian propaganda is usually directed more towards emotion rather than fact, and that they target young people like you because you are more likely to buy into it.

Vince Delarge: Insects are edible, many people do eat insects. Some insects are actually quite healthy.I don't know what eating bugs has to do with cannibalism though...Edit: Grasshoppers are easy to clean, cook, and catch. I know some people who eat grasshoppers and they are all healthy; just don't eat them raw and make sure they are nice and crispy....Show more

Lou Ravelo: most define that as vegetarian.

Reyes Brunell: You can eat whatever you want. Vegetarians don't eat insects because they are animals.

Robin Marchione: I am 12 and I've been a vegetarian since i was 6 and my family isn't. It is actually pretty easy. If your family big meat eaters try learning to cook something easy and veg! etarian as part of the meal. I also like to carry some snack mix with me so if i go some were that only serves meat i can snack on that. And if you eat over at some one eases house just eat what you can. Just don't eat any meats, some vegetarians eat sea food but i call that cheating. Here is a good site to go to to start off.http://kidshealth.org/teen/food_fitness/nutrition/...http://www.veggie123.com/http://www.vegetariantimes.com/http://www.goveg.com/Good Luck!...Show more

Rickey Vrieze: I was a vegetarian from the age of 13 until 23. You just have to know your alternatives. I ate alot of Boca products and Morning Farm. They have alot of alternatives. Google vegetarian foods. My mothers side of the family is vegetarian, so it was a little easier than it may be for you.

Cody Petrulis: Quite the inappropriate choice of category! Sorry, but to me it isn't a "good book" if it tells people that it's ok to use and kill animals.

Shandi Wedge: There is no such ! thing as a 4 year old who will starve himself to death! Try letting him! shop with you and choose things he'd like to try. Offer him a healthy variety at mealtimes but if he won't eat don't make a fuss. Don't give in to the french fries unless you were panning them as part of the meal in the first place.Just tell him there will be nothing else until the next meal or regularly scheduled snack time. Make sure his juice is 100% juice, not junk juice but don't let him fill up on it. Give him water if he is still thirsty. A good kids' vitamin isn't a bad idea. Tell the camp that as long as he is drinking and not getting dehydrated to back off. When his refusal to eat stops getting him lots of attention the situation will probably improve, particularly if you offer him the chance to participate in planning meals and snacks of healthy food....Show more

Malcom Fenoff: Carrots, celery, dried fruit are just a few items that pack and carry well. If you have to have the salt thing, try a good trail mixgood luck!

Neville Dautremont: ??

Rol! and Stampley: ^^^ Joke BTW ^^^^I think they would be safe to eat if you clean them and cook them.

Dexter Dingus: A lot of them do, yes. Upon eating these products, they look for free-range and cruelty free dairy. It's more expensive than just getting any old milk and eggs from the store, so you have to do your research and see what stores sell dairy that is cruelty free.

Nicolasa Henke: Even if your family aren't vegetarian, you still could be! Tell them your motive and explain and I'm sure they will back you up! If they don't you can still become vegetarian but it may be a little harder
