can I find laundry detergent that will work in the sink or bathtub?

Brice Greczkowski: Any laundry detergent will work for hand washing your clothes, so long as you use the right amount for the quantity of water you're using. Dishwashing liquid works great, too. (Not dishwasher detergent, though.) Before there was Woolite, people washed lingerie and sweaters in the same stuff they used for their dishes.I'd recommend buying it there, and going with dishwashing liquid, simply because it comes in smaller bottles and is cheaper, less of a loss if you leave some behind. If you'll be there long enough to use it up, buy a detergent intended for laundry. I'd probably choose a liquid. When we were young and poor, I did our wash in the tub with powdered Tide more than once. Getting it all dissolved was a challenge....Show more

Lana Uliano: well they have that oxy clean. maybe that mite work for you. well give it a try. before you go on your trip to europe. and i hope you have a safe trip over and back. and be care full while your over there. b! ye .

Mee Blumenfeld: Shampoo is great for hand washables. So long as it does not contain conditioners, etc.Or look for Fels Naptha laundry bar soap ( or Octagon or Zote ) at your local grocery store in the laundry aisle. These are bars of soap intended for laundry as well as general houselhold cleaning. A cake of soap is small and easily transported on your trip. Have fun!
