Would general care practitioners prescribe medications to help anxiety?

Carmina Stickney: I am so happy, it was only a 35 minute drive ( 70 minutes total) but absolutely no sign of anxiety or panic i shopped till I dropped - brilliant! I will now go for the next stage DUAL CARRIAGE way, probably at the weekend, with my husband accompanying me first then the solo drive, if successful the final stage of driving on motorwayBeat Anxiety And Panic Attacks Naturally?...Show more

Nadia Crauswell: It might. Talk to the doctor.

Scot Sepulbeda: The only answer that is the right one is going to come from the person you see tomorrow. Every case and every situation is different. On bit of advise - write everything down before you go so you don't forget to mention items you want to discuss. Good luck!

Jannette Kotz: In that situation they will refer you to a local mental health service for an intake appointment where you can discuss you're concerns with a social worker, and they can refer you from there to a psychiatrist who can prescr! ibe meds for you. You'll probably have to set the intake appointment up yourself. That's how things work where I live anyway. I hope you get what you need. Don't be worried about telling the doctor anything they usually do want to help and they are supposed to keep everything confidential. If you don't understand something ask them to clarify it for you. Good luck....Show more

Alisia Sutphen: yes ,if it is justifiable

Garry Ohmen: I didn't have a problem getting anxiety medicine from my general care clinic. I told the doctor all of my symptoms and was given medicine with a follow up appointment. I take effexor, and it works wonderfully. Before, I didn't go out in public much because I have social anxiety. Now it's all good. :)

Giovanna Sherlin: It depends on the doctor and the situation. Recently, doctors have started to realize and accept the fact that your mental health affects your physical health and vice versa, so the doctor might be willing to presc! ribe you something. (However, it's more likely that a younger,! more up-to-date doctor will do this; many older doctors still follow standard procedures and deny the mind/body connection.) Explain your situation and see what they say; it's more likely that they'll be understanding if your anxiety has been causing physical problems (certainly don't fake that, but be honest about it if it's happening)....Show more

Alma Twomey: I have had anxiety. I didn't go to a doctor (human). I went to Jesus He took it away from. Because I believed. DO You??
